Breaking The Bias This International Women’s Day

Posted on:   Posted by:

International Women’s Day is an opportunity to imagine a world filled with gender equality; free from bias, stereotypes and discrimination.

Why is International Women’s Day important?

International Women’s Day (IWD) is a yearly celebration of how far we’ve come in terms of gender equality, but it also raises awareness of how far we have to go. This year, International Women’s Day falls on 8th March 2022 and has the theme of #BreakTheBias.

What is bias?

Bias is the unfair way that we treat people based on certain characteristics such as gender. This is called gender bias. It’s a form of prejudice that can be very harmful.

“Whether deliberate or unconscious, bias makes it difficult for women to move ahead. Knowing that bias exists isn’t enough, action is needed to level the playing field.”

How can I #BreakTheBias?

This year, many people are striking the IWD 2022 pose and sharing this on social media to raise awareness of the campaign. People are using the hashtags #IWD2022 and #BreakTheBias to add to their posts and to also find content to share.
