Are you a young person in Cardiff that wants to get your hands on free condoms? Sign up for the C-Card scheme!
As part of the Frisky Not Risky campaign, we share information about YMCA Cardiff’s C-Card Scheme. Read more about the campaign here.
What is the C-Card Scheme?
The YMCA Cardiff C-Card Scheme allows young people aged 13 – 25 across Cardiff & the Vale of Glamorgan to get free condoms and access to sexual health information.
The scheme is funded by Families First in Cardiff, meaning it’s free to sign up and access condoms quickly and easily.
It is confidential, meaning that no one will tell anyone the information you share.
Signing up for a free C-Card
You can get a C-Card by visiting one of our C-Card Points across Cardiff or the Vale of Glamorgan.
Before being issued with a C-Card, you’ll have a private chat with a trained professional to make sure that you have the skills and information necessary to make informed decisions about your sexual health. It will include talking about relationships, sex and how to use a condom.
The information you give to a C-Card assessor is confidential. No information is passed on to anyone else. They may have to talk to someone else if they think you’re at risk, but the assessor will always try and talk to you before they do this. If you’re worried about confidentiality, you can ask the C-Card Assessor before giving them your information.
The C-Card Assessor will then fill in a form and take some details from you.
This process will take about 10-15 minutes, and then you’ll be issued a C-Card along with your first bag of condoms.
Getting more free condoms
Once you’ve signed up for the scheme, collecting your free condoms will take less than 5 minutes.
There are lots of locations across Cardiff where you can pick up condoms, which can be found on this map.
You can get a maximum of 10 condoms per week.
The scheme provides a variety of condoms (including non-latex), dental dams, and lube.
