Independent Venue Week Is About To Kick Off In Cardiff!

Posted on:   Posted by:

With the announcement that Newport’s Le Pub was to relocate and close for the foreseeable future last week (Le Pub will forever be one of my favourite ever venues… ever!) and the news that much loved Cardiff City Centre live music venue Dempseys is going to be closed and rebranded (insert sad face), there has never been a better time to promote independent music venues and the importance of them in the cubby holes of our city centres and towns.

With small venues being the starting point to any bands career, Independent Venue Week kicks off at the end of next week (23rd Jan – 29th of Jan), celebrating small music venues around the UK.

Venues in and around Cardiff will be getting involved with a number of gigs and events scheduled at GwdiHw, Clwb Ifor Bach, The Big Top and Hobos in Bridgend.

Supported using public funding by Arts Council England, Independent Venue Week aims to bring together breaking and established artists, promoters, labels, media, bloggers and tastemakers to create a nationwide series of gigs at the end of January.

Recognising all that small independent venues have done for local music scenes, upcoming bands, promoters and music lovers alike, you can find all ticket info and gig listing here.
