What’s Inside an STI Kit?

Ever wondered what’s inside a Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) Kit? Let’s find out!

Ordering a free STI Kit

As part of the Frisky Not Risky campaign, 21-year-old Lucy shared with us her experience ordering and unboxing a free STI Kit.

The STI Kit was ordered through Frisky Wales, which provides free home testing for some common STIs – chlamydia, gonorrhoea, syphilis, hepatitis B and hepatitis C.

Once ordered, the test kit should arrive at your home within 3-5 working days. It will be delivered by Royal Mail and in discreet packaging without logos or information about the contents.

Getting your results

Once you’ve completed your STI tests, post them to the laboratory in the pre-paid envelope within your kit.

You should receive your results within 3 weeks of returning your kit. If you have not had your results within 3 weeks, please email PHW.SexualHealth@wales.nhs.uk, who will check your results.

If all of your results are NEGATIVE and all of your samples were able to be processed, you will receive a text message.

If any of your results are POSITIVE, the sexual health service in your area will be in touch to arrange your free and confidential treatment and care.

If any of your results are REACTIVE, the sexual health service in your area will be in touch to arrange further tests.
