A special message from Radio Platfform DJ and Women’s Aid supporter Laura Fedeli.
Women’s Aid as a charity have received cuts to their funding over the last few years meaning they are able to help less vulnerable women in a state of emergency. As a service user of Women’s Aid this saddened me as I understand how vital this organisation can be for some individuals. This prompted me to plan something to help contribute to the cause so I got in touch with local Cardiff girls asking if anyone could help me organise a fundraiser.
Myself and Bianca Ali have since got together and have organised a huge event called ‘The Take Back‘. Our two main aims for this event are to raise money for Cardiff Women’s Aid and to also challenge the taboo against domestic violence and encourage individuals to talk openly about what they have been through if affected by this issue. We recognise women and men can be affected by this issue so want to highlight this where possible and aim to empower all victims.
The event will be held at Nos Da bar & hostel on 3rd November and is split into 2 events. The kids fun day will be running 1.30 – 5.30 and will involve various stalls like hook a duck, face-painting. There will also be live performances from dance troupes and Cardiff artists (Lucas J Rowe will be the headliner). 6.30 – 11.30 will then be a huge adults night with more performances from artists (Starvz & Aleighcia Scott are the headliners). A raffle and blind auction will also be held at both events which has only been possible via local business’ generous contributions. There are some amazing prizes on offer like half a day in a tattoo studio and vouchers for a free meal.

Bianca and I have put a huge amount of effort into planning both these events and we really hope they are successful and that everyone who attends has a good time in a safe environment.
