Capital Xtra and Media Academy Cardiff have teamed for Music Potential.

Are you 18-25? Not currently working or training? Want to make it in the UK music industry?

If you have a passion for radio, aspire to be a performer, like creating your own music or are just really keen to learn about the music business, then check out Music Potential.

Coming to Cardiff this summer Music Potential is a short course which gives you the chance to work with the best music industry professionals including Capital XTRA presenters & DJs to develop your skills and confidence.

Music Potential is made up of creative workshops, work experience, one to one industry mentoring, and employability training. You will also be supported to gain a nationally recognised qualification.

Workshops include:

  • Music Production
  • Song-writing and performance
  • Radio production
  • Live events management

Finally, you will have the  opportunity to showcase your talent at the Music Potential UNLEASHED live gig at the world-famous KOKO on the 31st August 2017. This year’s ambassador is Fuse ODG #JustSaying.

The Music Expo will be at the Wales Millennium Centre on Tuesday 9th May 2017, 11am-4pm.

How Music Potential will work in Cardiff

Phase #1: Workshops and Expo

A number of music workshops are being delivered across Cardiff, ending with the exciting Music Expo in the Wales Millennium Centre on the 9th of May mentioned above. “Everybody is welcome to attend! There is no commitment. All we ask is that you take part!” says Dan from Media Academy Cardiff. Have a look at Music Potential Cardiff’s Facebook for upcoming workshops.

Phase #2: Music Potential Xperience

These are seven to ten bespoke music sessions. You will leave finish with a Bronze Level Arts Award and other Agored qualifications. There are also opportunities to perform and take part behind the scenes.

Phase #3: Work Placements & Volunteering Opportunities

You will be offered the opportunity to undertake work placements and volunteer opportunities in the music industry area of their choice. You will be given a mentor who will support you in every step of your journey!
