Free and Cheap things to do in Cardiff: 4-10 July

Posted on:   Posted by:

Starvin’? Hank Marvin? Good job the Cardiff Food and Drink Festival is on this weekend. And technically it’s free to get in, so I can include it on this list of cheap things to do!

THURSDAY 4 JULY

Attend a talk from Sophie Rae, who’s coming up to her first anniversary running the plastic free shop, Ripple Living. Sophie’s view on sustainability can be summed up thus: what’s needed to save the planet is not a few people being perfectly sustainable, but millions being a bit more sustainable than they are at the moment. That’s in The Gate arts centre in Roath, not far from Ripple itself, at 8pm. It costs £6 to get in! More info and tickets here.

FRIDAY 5 JULY

International food and drink festival

From lunchtime on Friday until Sunday afternoon, head down to Cardiff Bay to fill up your tum tum with nosh from around the world. Yum yum. More info on the Cardiff International Food and Drink Festival here.

But you know what’s even more fun and includes actual FREE food if you know where to look? The Cardiff Uni Undergraduate Open Day! It’s this Saturday from 9am, register and find out more here.

You can also attend the Postgrad Cafe in the morning if you’re wondering how to get funded for a masters, PhD etc. Check it out here.

SATURDAY 6 JULY

Whilst you’re down the bay stuffing your face, why not pop into the adjacent WMC to make instruments. This is free between 11am and 4pm. More info, but not much, here.

From 11 at the Printhaus, there’s the Snapped Up Summer Market.

From 12, there’s the Bone Yard Big Summer Bash. Conveniently close to Printhaus. More info.

SUNDAY 7 JULY

From 3pm, the BAME focused open mic event, Where I’m Coming From, is back at the G39 art space.

Check it out on Facebook here.

WEDNESDAY 10 JULY

Here’s a good one. From 8pm at the Gate, they’re running a comics workshop. Learn to make your own comics with an established cartoonist- who knows, this could be the start of a lifelong obsession- or even a career! It’s just £3.50 a ticket.

Check it out here.
