Free and Cheap Things to do in Cardiff: 1-7 November

Posted on:   Posted by:

The weather’s gotten chilly all of a sudden so I wouldn’t blame you if you don’t fancy heading outside.

As half term and halloween draw to a close, people start saving for Christmas and students start looking ahead to their first big bunch of exams. Which is to say, it might be a quieter one this week. Nevertheless, The Sprout’s Free and Cheap Things To Do continues.

Boom boom bang

Wales’ biggest fireworks display is back. It’s two days early for Bonfire Night but it’s sure to be absolutely… wait for it… banging. It’s also community-organized by “a group of young blokes under 45 in Cardiff” which is interesting. Get your tickets NOW!

Rough As at Nos Da

Time to step up to the plate

Rough As has become known in Swansea as the comedy and open mic night that anyone can get into. This can be a great thing, giving people their first chance to perform, and if they don’t like it they don’t have to do it again! This is the first one in Cardiff so if you’ve been itching to try out stand-up comedy or any other kind of performance, this might be the time. Facebook event here.

Comedy night at Zen

Tue 6 Nov 7.30-11pm – The Zen Bar – Free

Isn’t it weird when… someone robs your watch?? What’s that all about??

Three local comedians are doing a free show at the Zen Bar near the Atrium. As the Facebook event says, they are all as seen on BBC Sesh, except the one who isn’t, which makes him all the more special.

Bring it all Back – High School Musical party

Wed 7 Nov 11pm til late – Clwb Ifor Bach – £5

So incredibly garish. MY EYES

A club night billed as “all the music you liked before you were cool,” and filled with music you “usually sing in the car, alone”, this is sure to be one of the cheesiest club nights you’ve ever been to. Tickets are £5, but I won’t be going. Obviously. Got to work on the Sprout in the morning. And I never even liked High School Musical, anyway. Honest!
