If you are a young carer aged 6-18 in Cardiff, you can join the Young Carers Club to benefit from free activities.
What is Young Carers Club?
Skills and Volunteering Cymru (SVC) run a project called Young Carers Club in Cardiff, which runs monthly day activity trips for young carers aged 6-18.
They have two groups on the project, a ‘Kids’ group (6-12) and a ‘Teens’ group (13-18).
What are the activities?
The Young Carers Club project involves volunteers taking a group of young carers aged 6-18 on monthly activity day trips on the weekend. The trips give young carers a break from the stresses of their caring responsibilities, a chance to socialise with other young carers and take part in exciting activities that might usually be unavailable to them.
These trips could be anything from going bowling and the cinema, to Thorpe Park or Bristol Zoo.
All expenses would be covered by SVC, meaning it’s free for young carers.
How can I join?
You’re eligible for the project if you’re between 6-18, live in Cardiff and are a young carer.
To join the Young Carers Club, a referral form will need to be submitted on your behalf. This could be completed by a professional you know (e.g. youth worker, social worker, teacher) or a family member over 18.
If you’re struggling to find someone to fill in the referral for you, please get in touch with j.ling@svcymru.org.
