Christmas: It’s not the most wonderful time of the year for some young people!
If it’s the most wonderful time of the year, why are you having those negative thoughts? Why are you feeling sad, worried, upset or confused? You’re not allowed to feel like this at Christmas, are you?
Just because it’s the festive season, doesn’t mean you can just switch off how you feel. In fact, Christmas time can even heighten your emotions. Remember, you’re not alone if you’re not feeling so great at this time of year.
Meic, the national helpline for young people in Wales, states that hundreds of young people need someone to talk to at Christmastime – with relationships being the main issue for three of the last four years.

How can I get help?
Don’t forget that there is still help available for you over Christmas time. Maybe chat to someone you trust about how you’re feeling, like a friend or family member. What is Meic?
Meic is the national information, advice, and advocacy helpline for young people across Wales. The helpline advisors can listen, talk to you, and help you find a way to move forward. Children and young people in Wales up to the age of 25 can contact Meic 365 days of the year (including Christmas day and New Year’s day), between 8AM – Midnight by phone, text or online chat.
