Doom, doom! It’s back to school this week for most young Cardiffians, but I’m sure you’re fed up of all those long hot summer days by now and just want to get back to learning. Right? Of course right!
If you’re still after some fun though, here’s some events I’ve spotted that, as always, should be super cheap and easy to get in.
Cardiff Animation Nights August
Thurs 30 Aug 7.30pm – Kong’s Cardiff – Free – Sprout Event
Loads of award winning films from the famous Annecy animation festival will be screening at the video games themed bar this month. Vimeo staff pick winners and a film described as “nothing like what we’ve seen before” all head the bill. Read up on Facebook.
Sherman Comedy Night
Thurs 30 Aug 7.30pm – Sherman Theatre – £3
Is it really time for all these monthly events again already? Where did my life go? Anyway, go and have a laugh at or with some of Wales’ best emerging comedians at the Sherman theatre on Thursday night. Tickets and info here.
Bug Hunt
Sat 2nd Sep 2pm – St Fagans – Free
Join the Cardiff Local Group of Welsh Wildlife in looking round St Fagans, the National Museum of Welsh History, for insects and other invertebrates. Hope it doesn’t creep you out too much! Information here.
Open Doors- Cardiff Riding School
Sun 2nd Sep 10am-2pm – Pontcanna Fields – Free
Wales’ heritage site people, Cadw, are hosting a whole bunch of events throughout September where the doors are getting thrown wide open for the public to see bits of historic buildings that we never get to see. Most of the events are a bit later, but this coming week Cardiffians can visit Cardiff Riding School, situated on the outreaches of Bute Park at Pontcanna Fields.
Radio Platfform’s training course- week one!
Tue 4th Sep 6pm – Wales Millenium Centre – Free
Radio Platfform is an amazing initiative which has been running in the WMC for a while now.
