Posted on:   Posted by:

Eid al-Fitr is a very important festival in the Islamic calendar and is celebrated by Muslims worldwide.

When is Eid al-Fitr celebrated?

Eid al-Fitr, which translates to The Feast of Breaking the Fast in English, marks the end of Ramadan.

It takes place on the first day of the tenth month of the Islamic lunar calendar. In 2022, this is the 2nd of May.

What happens during Eid al-Fitr?

During Eid al-Fitr, Muslims are not allowed to fast as the festival is celebrated at the end of the fasting period, Ramadan.

It is an opportunity for Muslims to thank Allah for the strength and discipline needed to fast during Ramadan, as well as to ask for forgiveness if they broke the fast at any point. Muslims will also thank Allah for the Qur’an, which was revealed toward the end of Ramadan.

There are celebrations put on in local communities across the world, as well as bigger festivals to celebrate with family and friends.
