Chai Street Opens In City Centre

Posted on:   Posted by:

Last Tuesday saw the launch night of the latest Chai Street restaurant in Cardiff.

Located on High Street in Cardiff’s city centre (AKA the castle end of St Mary’s Street), this Chai Street is the second to open in the city. Following great success with their Indian street food in Canton, it’s now time for town to get its fill of pakora, thali and Chicken 65.

Chai Street is a spin-off of the immensely successful Mint And Mustard and is simply a must for foodies on a budget, with dishes starting from £3.75 and nothing breaking a tenner. For food this good, it’s a silly price.

Anyway on launch night we were treated to a little bit of everything off the menu, some of their Chai Street branded IPA, and some drummers that tore it up. It goes without saying that it was a fantastic flavour-filled experience.

Also worth noting is the decor in the place, which marries authentic Indian tastes with an urban street aesthetic (just like the food huh?) with Burningred in charge of bringing Chai Streets’ walls to life. As well as providing the design and interior vision, they worked with local graffiti don RMER to create the key character graphic as you walk in the door.

So this place looks amazing, the food tastes amazing, and it’s incredible value. I’ll see you down there soon, yeah? I’ll be the one with my face in Chicken 65.
