WOW Your Way As a WOWser!

Posted on:   Posted by:

A global festival celebrating women and girls is coming to Cardiff in November and they’re looking for young people to create something special to present at the event.

The WOW (Women of the World) Festival was launched in 2011 at the Southbank Centre in London and has expanded since then to 15 cities across 5 continents. The festival is a chance for people of all ages and backgrounds to celebrate the achievements of women and girls and examines the obstacles that stop them achieving their full potential and contributing to the world.

Take part in the festival

The WOWsers programme is looking for 10 volunteers aged 15 – 18 to help them create an element of WOW Cardiff, like a talk or a piece of drama or something. This will then be presented at the festival in the Chapter Arts Centre from 23rd to 25th November, 2018.

The young people chosen, the WOWsers, will meet every Wednesday between 24th September and 26th November, 4-6pm, to discuss ideas and develop a project together to showcase at the festival. WOWsers will also help shape and inform the programme for the WOW Schools Day being held on Friday, 23rd November.

Who to contact

If you’re interested in taking part, ask a parent/guardian for consent and send a short letter saying why you’d like to be a WOWser at WOW Cardiff to charlotte.lewis@southbankcentre.co.uk or rhiannon.white@southbankcentre.co.uk before 22nd June.
