World Kindness Day falls yearly on November 13th. It is a day to celebrate and promote kindness in all its forms. Here are some ways that you can get involved and be kind:
Be kind to others
Being kind to others doesn’t have to be huge acts of service – it’s the little things that make the most difference.
How about donating some food to a local homeless shelter, or offering to pay for someone else’s coffee?
You could offer to spend time looking after your siblings so your parents can have some well-deserved downtime.
You could also reach out to someone that you haven’t spoken with in a while to check in on how they’re doing. Sending an uplifting message to a friend, family member or colleague is also a great way to be kind and make someone smile.
Practise self-care
It’s great being kind to others, but remember how important it is to be kind to yourself.
Make sure you take care of yourself by relaxing and practising self-care, whether that be a nice face mask, some exercise, or a delicious meal. Remember to hydrate by drinking plenty of water, too.
Support a small business
Whether you’re shopping locally, at an independent store online, or on your friend’s side hustle – it’ll be appreciated!
Small businesses are struggling with the impacts of the pandemic, so you can feel good knowing you helped someone out whilst getting something you like. You could also write positive reviews for things you have bought in the past and loved.
Be eco-conscious
Instead of getting a lift to school or driving to work, try to get there by walking, cycling or using public transport.
Instead of eating out, try and pack your own lunch with reusable containers, for example, a reusable bottle or coffee cup.
Instead of taking a long shower, save water by keeping your shower under 5 minutes!
If you’re feeling adventurous, grab some gloves and a bin bag and go litter-picking locally, whether at your local park or the beach!
