Lights, costumes, sound and set design are all things that go into making the perfect on-stage production. All of this is called technical theatre, and you have an opportunity to try it out.

The Opportunity

Sherman Theatre in Cardiff is looking for young people aged 16-18 who are interested in applying for work-shadowing placements as part of the National Theatre’s #YouthArtsConnectionsFestival. The Youth Arts Connections Festival will be held at the Sherman Theatre from 21st – 23rd April 2022.

There are 3 placements spaces available.

What does the placement involve?

This is an amazing opportunity to be trained in technical theatre through practical workshops and work-shadowing in costume, lighting, sound design and stage management.

But, what will you actually be doing? To give you a better idea, here’s a short YouTube documentary about American high school kids who are part of their school technical theatre group.
