About Malala Yousafzai
Malala Yousafzai was born on 12th July 1997 in Pakistan. She is a Pakistani activist for female education and the youngest Nobel Prize laureate, now living in the United Kingdom.
Why is Malala Yousafzai famous?
Malala is an activist for female rights and empowerment. In the area she lived in Pakistan, the Taliban began taking away the opportunity for girls to go to school. At 11 years old Malala started blogging for the BBC about living under the Taliban. As a result, the Taliban saw her as a threat to their ideology and attempted to kill her in 2012 (when she was just 15). She got shot in the head however, after receiving emergency care in Birmingham, England, she survived and became a known name overnight.
Why is Malala Yousafzai an inspiration to you?
Despite almost being murdered, Malala continues to stand up for what she believes in. She is resilient and a role model for so many girls around the world to not give up fighting if it’s worth fighting for. Malala is the youngest person to have ever won a Nobel Prize.
Why does Malala Yousafzai deserve more recognition?
Most people will know Malala as ‘the girl who got shot in the head’, however, there is so much more to her story that most people are aware of and she deserves recognition.
