Valleys Steps is an organisation which provides easily accessible courses to improve your mental health.
What is Valley Steps?
Valleys Steps was established as a well-being charity to help people to help themselves. They aim to promote an understanding of how everyone can take steps to improving everyday well-being. Valley Steps believe that everyone should have the opportunity to learn ways of managing the common psychological difficulties that we all face at times in life such as stress, low mood and anxiety.
There are different courses that Valley Steps provide to help you improve your mental health and emotional wellbeing, with them focussing on Stress Control and Mindfulness.
Who can enrol on the courses?
The courses are available for anyone ages 16 years or older. 14 and 15 year olds can attend with an adult.
How long are the courses?
Each course lasts about six weeks and is held either in the morning or the evening. It’s informal, and the only info they ask of you is your postcode. You can find out more info here.
Admittedly this is not a Cardiff-based project as it is run in collaboration with the Cwm Taf university health board. The sessions are mostly in places like Porth, Aberdare, Porthcawl and Pontypridd. However, due to the pandemic, the sessions are now all available online.
