Ever wondered what the future will be like in 50 years time? 8 year-old Thomas, a finalist from Chapter’s Postcards From The Future competition, explains the vision behind his artwork.
What was your inspiration for the artwork?
I wanted my entry to be a fun, animated picture of what life might be like 50 years from now.
My inspiration came from a mix of cartoons such as Finding Nemo, Thunderbirds and also current news headlines like the polar ice caps melting and rising sea levels.
How do you feel about being included in a professional art exhibition in Chapter?
I feel excited that people would be able to view my work in the gallery. I also feel proud of what I have achieved and that the judges have selected my work from so many.
What other creative things do you do?
I enjoy construction, especially LEGO. I love being imaginative, building ships, spaceports and bridges. I love learning about Brunel’s inventions from Victorian times.
Is there anything else that you’d like to say about being a finalist?
When I heard from my headmistress, I felt honoured and could not stop smiling. I can’t believe that my artwork would be next to such amazing artwork at Chapter Arts.
