Teens given control of 300 acres of the Brecon Beacons

What would you do with 300 acres of land?

What if that land was in the Welsh beauty hotspot- the Brecon Beacons?

For twenty teenagers from across the UK, this dream has become a reality. The 12-17 year olds have been placed in charge of the management of Powys’ Penpont Estate.

It’s a great way to get young people involved in reforestation and improving biodiversity- activities needed to mitigate the negative effects of humans on the earth, that will benefit the young and future generations.

But the young people involved will gain useful employability skills too- they’ll be dealing with finance, planting trees, rearing livestock and publicising the projects.

What’s more- these won’t be the only young people who get the chance to be involved. As they move on to work and university, other young people will be able to take their place on the project. Could it be you?
