Arts Active, is hosting 3 new and completely free summer schools. Although spaces are free, they are limited, so booking ahead of time is essential.
Podcasting, Printmaking & Darkroom Photography
During this summer school, you’ll have a taster in screenprinting, podcasting and darkroom photography and then focus on your two favourites.
- Dates: Monday 1 – Saturday 6 August 2022
- Time: 10am – 4pm
- Location: 11-13 Braeval Street, Cardiff, CF24 4SJ
- Ages: 17-20 years old
- Lead Artists: Adnan Shafi, Shaun James & Faye Chamberlain

Ceramics
In the workshops, you will learn lots of fun processes that go into making pottery, explore decoration techniques and get to design and create your own project which will be fired in the kiln at the Llanover Hall ceramics studio. A perfect opportunity to get creative, have fun and do something different this summer!

- Ages: 11-14 years old

Drawing, Costume, Collage & Theatre Sets
These sessions will use drawing to explore the theme of a sci-fi epic and create a still-life city of the future using found objects. Participants will design and make the costumes for the characters living in this environment. The final artwork: A figure in outer-space, will combine protagonist and place to develop a final image with a narrative that will play out either across one work or within a series.
- Dates: Monday 15 – Tuesday 16 August 2022
- Time: 10am – 4pm
- Location: St Vincent’s Ely Bridge, Mail Road, Cardiff, CF5 4AG
- Age: 14-16 years old
- Lead artists: Geraint Ross Evans and Valentine Gigandet
