Hailing from the hills of South Wales, this rock four piece is slowly making a name for themselves, particularly in our musical capital. Taking inspiration from the likes of Arctic Monkeys, Catfish and the Bottlemen and Pretty Vicious, their new single Afflictions certainly pays homage to their muses. With a catchy opener and easy lyrics, The Pitchforks have aced creating the perfect song to end a set.
A fresh followup to their previous single Headlock, the lyrics are cutting and relevant, with William penning the song after listening to some of Catfish’s earlier work. Upon hearing, I can’t help but feel huge similarities between Afflictions and Cocoon. However, it was the riff that stood out the most, thanks to Ethan, setting the foundations of the single.
It debuted on the 20th August at the Moon Club Cardiff during their successful gig, however you can hear Afflictions live next month at the Swansea Fringe Festival where The Pitchforks will be doing a set on the 30th of September.
Although I preferred Headlock, this new single is a certain hit and I would wager we can expect great things to come from The Pitchforks.
