Help and Support Services Open During Christmas

You’re not alone at Christmas!

This festive period can be a fun time filled with joy, laughter and presents. However, for many young people, Christmas is a time for family feuds, isolation and worry.

If you’ve got something on your mind that you’d like to share over Christmas, there are still ways that you can access support! Here’s a list of some services that can offer you support during the holidays.

Meic

Meic is the national helpline for young people in Wales. Meic provides free and confidential bilingual information, advice and advocacy for children and young people up to and including the age of 25, 16 hours a day, 365 days a year, on the phone (080880 23456), text (84001), or online chat. You can access support from 8AM – Midnight.

Samaritans

Whatever you’re going through, a Samaritan can face it with you. The Samaritans are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

You can call Samaritans for free on 116 123. Alternatively, if you don’t like talking on the phone, you can email Samaritans and can expect a response within 24 hours. The email address is: jo@samaritans.org

Samaritans also have a Welsh Language Line on 0808 164 0123 (7pm–11pm every day).

Crisis Text Line

Crisis Text Line is here for any crisis. A live, trained Crisis Counsellor receives the text and responds from their secure online platform. The volunteer Crisis Counsellor will help you move from a hot moment to a cool moment.

Text HOME to 741741 from the UK to receive free 24/7 support at your fingertips.

Shout

Shout is a confidential 24/7 text service offering support if you are in crisis and need immediate help. Shout’s text line is always available if you struggle to cope and need to talk.

Text SHOUT to 85258 to access Shout’s text line.

 

NHS 111 Wales

NHS 111 provides non-emergency medical help and advice for people living in Wales. It is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The contact number for this service differs depending on which area of Wales you are in.

Call 111 – For Hywel Dda, Powys, Aneurin Bevan and Swansea Bay (including Bridgend Health Boards)
Call 0845 46 47 – For all other areas of Wales
