Mental Health And Suicide Prevention During Movember

Movember is an annual event every November run by the Movember charity, the leading non-profit changing the face of men’s health.

How can I be involved?

Traditionally, many people would try to grow out their moustaches during Movember to fundraise. If you can’t grow one or wouldn’t like to, fear not, there are a few more ways to get involved in Movember!

You could commit to running or walking 60km over the month, at your own pace. That’s 60km for the 60 men we lose to suicide each hour, every hour across the world.

Remember that these are just a couple of ideas for Movember, you really could do anything! Why not host a coffee and cake morning or plan a fundraising party with your local youth group?

How do I sign up?

If you’d like to go solo, you can also register to fundraise by yourself here.

Prefer to be part of a group? There are some local groups created by fellow Cardiffians to raise awareness and money for this charity. You can check out the challenges going on in Cardiff here, and join them if you’d like.

Some groups event host local events, like this run taking place on 12th November 2022 at 9:30am.

Likewise, check out some of Movember’s bigger challenges across the UK if you’re keen to have a bit of healthy competition.

Where does the money go?

With the money raised, Movember funds health projects across mental health and suicide prevention, prostate cancer and testicular cancer. They have funded 1,250 projects so far and have many more that they wish to start.

Do I have to be a man to get involved?

No! Even though this charity supports men, anyone can be involved in fundraising!
