Ministry of Life host Gabalfa Funday

The young people from Ministry of Life Gabalfa put on an amazing funday last week.

What is a funday, you ask? In this case it meant music, smoothies and lots of fun games to try out at the Master Gunner car park in Gabalfa.

The location was chosen as a great venue in the heart of the Gabalfa area, just down the road from the Hub where Ministry of Life usually meet for their weekly youth clubs.

MOL leader Joff and his team of young volunteers Macey, Joel, Terri Mae, Ffion, Abbie and Shane put on a veritable smorgasbord of entertainment for visitors.

Thinking about hooking a blender up to my bike now.

There was a whole series of musical acts lined up as well.

Sam Jones, who also sings with Cardiff band Dirty Alex, warmed up the crowd with her amazing repertoire of Disney musical and pop songs that everyone knows.

A few young children even stepped up to the mic to belt out some well known hits.

B*Written is an acclaimed artist who has recently toured Europe. You can see his Instagram and Facebook here.

Of course Abbie and Terri Mae performed their hits.

Finally came the headliner: Starvz, who is challenging the young people of Cardiff to put the knives down with the hashtag #knivesdownchallenge19. Check out his YouTube, Facebook and Instagram for more info about how to take part in the challenge.

The Sprout team were on the scene with our huge purple Meic-branded tablecloth and the Yes and No Game, one of our favourites to play quickly between acts.

Hey, that’s me!

Next to our gazebo was another staffed by the Emmanuel Baptist Church. They’d not come far as their church is just a few doors down the road. They had a fun activity for young children: custom-icing biscuits.

A local pottery business also showed up, offering white statues and crockery for purchase which visitors could then paint before taking home.

Last but not least, the organisers laid on plenty of fruit and juice to keep everyone energised. There was even a smoothie-making stationary bike. Everyone had a go pedalling to make a delicious fruit and yoghurt smoothie.
