Welcome back to the Sprout’s Cheap and Free things to do in Cardiff. We got some flak last week for missing one event.
People were like, “How did you miss Kylie?” and “I literally can’t even believe you didn’t have Kylie Minogue in your events listings!” and “This is really bothering me- can’t get the Sprout events listings out of my head!” To them we say begone- tickets for that concert were way too expensive for this list. That’s just not how we do the locomotion round here.

HUSH Silent Disco
Sat 6 Oct 8 til Late – National Museum Cardiff – £11
Alright, so maybe it’s not that cheap, but this sounds awesome. You pay a bit over a tenner plus £5 deposit on a pair of two-channel headphones, and you go in to find your tribe… everything’s quiet but once your headphones are on, can you tell who’s bopping to track one and who’s vibing on track two? And did we mention they’re going to be “pushing the statues aside and locking the fossils away” so the dancing all happens under the roof of that prestigious institution- The National Museum!? More info here. Friday night is sold out (though you might be able to get in on the door after 9) but Saturday’s tickets are still on sale here.
Cardiff Half Marathon
Sun 7 Oct 9am – Cardiff Castle, Cardiff City Stadium, Cardiff Bay, Roath Park

A free concert at lunchtime from the students of the nearby Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Why not? Slightly more info here.
