Must feel pretty good to have your exams all done and dusted, right? Long summer hols stretching out ahead, or perhaps going for your first job? It’s a feeling young people in school and in uni will be looking at this dream scenario at this time of year.

So here’s some cheap thrills and spills to fills your day-dills.

Sounds interesting- filmmaker and artist Thomas Goddard hits G39, the Cardiff art space, with a couple of shorts, one of which promises to tackle 20 years of devolution in Wales.”The use of libraries can seem like an oddity in the age of the internet – we cling to them as a concept, for nostalgia but also see the value in cataloguing, collecting and preserving”. Facebook. Free entry, starts 6pm.

Also from 6pm, there’s a very important talk on at Cathays Community Centre. Climate Change and Capitalism: they’re at odds, right? Time to ask the age old question every worrywart like myself has been asking for a long time… what can be done? Facebook event. It’s free of course.

If you grew up in a small village like I did, maybe you sometimes think back to those days at the village fete like some kind of heyday… sure, they were depressing affairs as a teen but as a kid they were one of the best things in the world. Relive the magic amongst the student and yuppie crowd of Cathays at Cathays fair. It’s from 2pm on Pentyrch St. FB.

Rejoice traveller, for it is free RPG day at the Gate from 2 til 6. Equip your mightiest blade, stride your noble steed and away to the book of faceth.

Slow weekend? Perhaps. One of the most exciting events listed on the Mermaid Quay website is the launch of the Refill programme in Cardiff, which encourages people to buy less plastic water bottles and re-use their bottles. Have you #GotTheBottle? Father’s Day treat? Get him a refillable bottle of water. He’ll thank you for it. Or maybe he won’t. Only one way to find out.
