  • they live in Cardiff and
  • they have a child under the age of 18 (or 25 if the young person has additional needs) and/or
  • they are expecting a baby

Check out the list below to find out more about the services they provide and how to get involved during the pandemic.

Cardiff Family Advice and Support

Services provided:

Cardiff Family Advice and Support know how important it is to be able to access the right service at the right time. If you live in Cardiff and are under 25, Cardiff Family Advice and Support offers a free service providing information, advice and assistance to young people. The service will listen to what you have to say, and can offer direct support or will enable you to find the best service for you. If you contact us we will speak with you about your concerns and either work with you and your family directly or put you in touch with the right service for you.

The team can provide information and advice on:

  • Family life
  • Child behaviour
  • Childcare
  • Parental support
  • School attendance
  • Employment, money and housing
  • Information and signposting to other services

Any professional, parent, child, young person or member of the public across Cardiff who would like information, advice and assistance regarding the well-being of a child can access the service via the Family Gateway.

The Family Gateway Contact Officers are available to listen to the situation, identify what support is best and help to access it. Referrals with a clear safeguarding concern are directed to the Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) where a social worker will decide on the service best placed to support the family.

The Family Gateway works alongside and refers directly into the Family Help, Family Help Disability and Support4Families teams when families need short term intervention or are facing more complex issues. Referrals to Cardiff Parenting Services are also made via the Family Gateway for those parents requiring support with improving parenting confidence and skill, building on parents understanding of their child’s behaviour and strengthening relationships, nurture, well-being and resilience.
