Detour: An Opportunity Connecting Young Welsh People to Young Palestinians

Are you aged between 17-21 and live in Riverside? Detour is an exciting new creative opportunity for you.

What is Detour?

Detour is a brand new project by Gentle Radical. The project aims to connect young people from two different neighbourhoods, Riverside in Cardiff (Wales) and Beit Safafa in East Jerusalem (Palestine). These neighbourhoods are approximately 3,160 miles apart.

The project will bring together two groups of young people to develop a creative collaboration over the coming months. Expect workshops and creative sessions, and the chance to make something together. It could be a short film, a podcast, or even some posters to paste across the neighbourhood – it will be up to the group.

How can I find out more?

There will be a tastes session at South Riverside Community Development Centre, Brunel Street, Riverside, on Wednesday 1st June from 4.30 pm – 6.00 pm. There will be food and a chance to meet some of the artists involved.

After the taster sessions, meet-ups start in June and continue over the summer. They’ll figure out times that work best for everyone.

For any questions, Whatsapp using 0775 9933311. You could also drop Gentle Radical an email at admin©gentleradical.org

What can be involved?

If you live in Riverside or any of the surrounding neighbourhoods and are aged between 17-21, you can get involved with this opportunity.

Don’t worry if you don’t have any specific creative skills. The project is looking for people interested in meeting other young people from different neighbourhoods and sharing experiences. You’ll have lots of support from artists and creatives who’ll help develop this project with you.
