Ever wondered what the future will be like in 50 years time? 13-year-old Anna, a finalist from Chapter’s Postcards From The Future competition, explains the vision behind her artwork.
What was your inspiration for the artwork?
I wanted to create a bright, fun and happy image of a Wales without covid. I had the idea of a screen being brought down over our world now and wiping out the virus.
My Mother works for the NHS and so I drew her in her scrubs pulling down the screen. I thought that If people were to see the image it would give them a sense of hope and bring some joy as we’ve all had a tough year.
How do you feel about being included in a professional art exhibition in Chapter?
It’s amazing! I’m very proud to have made the final nine and would love to see my work on the light box. I’ve been drawing non-stop since I was about three! When I leave school, I hope to pursue a career in art and so this competition has made me believe in myself a bit more.
What other creative things do you do?
I draw non-stop. My parents cannot throw any ‘rubbish’ out because I make stuff all the time! I enjoy making costumes, painting, drawing digitally and traditionally.
Is there anything else that you’d like to say about being a finalist?
When I was little my grandfather lived on Market Road and used to take me to chapter for cake. I never thought that my artwork would be displayed there one day. It’s unbelievable!! Thank you!
