You may remember that theSprout reviewed Atomçk in brief as part of the line-up in The Globe presided over by Taint earlier this year.
You can read said review here, but we are gathered at this page to give thumbs up to the limited edition split CD currently damaging our senses that the Newport duo have collaborated on with Cardiff / Newport experimentalists, Spider Kitten.
Opening with their only offering across 14 tracks, Spider Kitten's Sensual Predator is an 18-minute opus that could be considered Shine On You Crazy Diamond for the skunk and horror generation.
Heavy with an atmosphere that threatens to either choke you completely or explode into fireworks, it manages both through a progression of subtle time changes, ominous bass and soaring synths. We're on our fifth listen and still enjoying mightily.
From then on the show belongs to Atomçk. By extreme contrast, anything beyond a minute long is thin on the ground, with each track a schizophrenic burst of meaty grindcore.
Emphasis is on speed guitars, an accelerated drum machine and screaming, all of which dishes up a spot-hitting dose of extreme metal.
There are only 100 of these in circulation, so best be quick in acquiring one by emailing atomck@kcmota.com.
