The former Full Moon Club will re-open this weekend following the launch of a crowdfunding campaign by former staff to resurrect the music bar in Cardiff’s much-loved Womanby Street.
Run by the Creative Republic of Cardiff, The Moon Cardiff music bar will open on Friday 28th of April as a community-led, non-profit music and arts space after over 13k was raised towards a lease and redevelopments.
Creative Republic of Cardiff is a new non-profit organisation set up by former staff and friends of The Full Moon, aiming to rejuvenate Cardiff’s live music and creative culture. Creative Republic of Cardiff will use the venue to establish an environment of collaboration, networking and knowledge sharing, developing and nurturing talent from Cardiff and beyond.
The Moon Cardiff will be holding ongoing fundraisers and online donations, to help keep Womanby Street – and The Moon Club alive and thriving.
Cardiff’s ‘music street’ has already seen the closure of the Dempseys pub, a noise complaint against Fuel Rock Bar and a proposed seven-storey residential and commercial development next to Clwb Ifor Bach. There are also potential threats for Wetherspoons Hotel.
Save Womanby Street campaigners will hit the streets of Cardiff weekend, marching from the cultural-hub that is Womanby Street to Cardiff’s City Hall on Saturday 29th of April – in protest of the planned developments that could ruin the area’s future.
